Thursday December 3rd,  2015
Well, isn’t this article timely. As a producer/playwright/actor, I am constantly in fear that the work I create is just a vanity project and not a worthy piece of art, an accusation hurled at women at every level of the industry.

Headstrong is forging into our 3rd year! Please help us keep making feminist, accessible theatre that celebrates all of our complexities by making a Donation for Giving Tuesday.

Happy World Theatre Day! Let’s all celebrate by buying tickets to a show and treating ourselves to a night at the theatre (which is the most magical place you can be)!

Wednesday March 25th, 2015
It’s raining, so read this interview and giggle uncontrollably to yourself on the bus, like I did. Congratulations to the Ensemble from Headstrong/Urban Bard’s Romeo and (her) Juliet! And feel free to vote for us, because they are all really this charming and hilarious in real life too.

Hey Actor friends, you should totally check out Sonia Norris Acting Workshops. Sonia is an amazing teacher who will challenge you in every way. I can’t recommend her workshops highly enough, especially for anyone interested in engaging their body more fully in their work. Mask work is incredible for helping you learn to make specific, distilled, brave choices, and Sonia is a remarkable facilitator. She also makes her classes super affordable so that you don’t have to eat ramen to train with her. And that, my friends, is lovely.

When my artistic soul is rubbed raw by the realities of the world and I am ready to give up on it all, I always seem to stumble across Tilda Swinton’s work and then fall in love all over again.

I have never heard of autism-friendly performances! Creating support for children with autism spectrum disorders and their families to enjoy the magic is such a lovely idea.

Women in Hollywood: A self-perpetuating problem. For me, the most interesting stat was that tv shows with at least 1 female writer had almost 10% more female characters on the show (still fewer than 50% though, like the world is).

Wednesday January 28th, 2015
Super exciting. My play Licking Knives will be presented in May as part of Stratford’s Springworks Festival AND THEN it will be published by Meat Locker Editions! Thank you to everyone who has supported this project so far.

Wednesday January 21st, 2015
How exciting is this fantastic trailer for #DrunkAdo!! In horrifying news, the last time I watched this, YouTube automatically started playing the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer. You have been warned.

Tuesday January 20th, 2015
Friends, I have been very secretive so far this year. It’s not personal, there are just many things in the works, and I don’t want to tempt the gods to smite them. In the meantime, I really want a book called “Conversations with Picasso”. Just in case anyone’s looking for gift ideas. Valentine’s is coming up. Just saying.

Friday January 16th, 2015
Love. Loathing. Liquor. Buy your ticket for Drunk Ado About Nothing before it sells out! For real, though. It will.

Happy Holidays to all! Wishing you the best in 2015!

Oof. Even if it were true (which it isn’t), basketball is a Canadian invention. Are we the best at it? NO, BECAUSE THOSE TWO THINGS ARE NOT RELATED. (Actor Janet Suzman criticised for calling theatre ‘a white invention’)

Read this article if you’re interested in semiotics! Theatre is magic; it’s the only place we can be anything we want, just because we say so. Elements like cigarettes, candles, horses, cars…they break the magic. In theatre, “the game is bigger.”

Monday June 9th, 2014 (cont’d)
Just found a old horoscope in my wallet with a quotation from Charles Bukowski, and I think I needed it to inspire my creative work today: “Nobody can save you but yourself. You will be put again and again into nearly impossible situations. They will attempt again and again through subterfuge, guise and force to make you submit, quit and/or die quietly inside. But don’t, don’t, don’t. It’s a war not easily won, but if anything is worth winning, then this is it. Nobody can save you but yourself, and you’re worth saving.”

Monday June 9th, 2014
What a talented production team. This is going to be an amazing Romeo and (her) Juliet produced by Headstrong Collective and Urban Bard! #RandJTO

I missed World Theatre Day. Here is my annual commemorative quotation, a new one this year:

“Everyone likes everything nowadays. They like the television and the phonograph and the shampoo and the soda pop and the Cracker Jack. Everything becomes everything else and it’s all nice and pretty and LIKABLE. Everything is fun in the sun! Where’s the discernment? Where’s the arbitration that separates what I LIKE from what I RESPECT, what I deem WORTHY, what has… listen to me now… SIGNIFICANCE.” – John Logan (RED)
